Distributed Software Development in the Late Nineties

In the pre internet days, fetam.com used a central server to manage development and maintenance of its software base. In the late nineties, as open source movement was becoming a thing, a new model emerged for managing the base for a project - that is the distributed model. But there was a company called bit keeper, a accompanyer product called bit keeper,. developed in the late Nineties, and it was actually used for the development of lennox. Even though it itself was paid software, it was used in this open source, massive open source project for lennox -- colonel. It's been around since 1998 but has only recently become more widely available online.
