In China you start taking an exam at the age of ten, and then get to the finish line by 65. So essentially for the rest of your life, starting at a very young age, you're exposed to one idea repeatedly. "You don't really have the capacity even to process a different idea," he says. He argues that Europe never had this kind of intellectual instrument that China has developed.
