In China and South Taiwan, how much does a Zhang Tai speak Taiwanese? I'm sure there's places in John Gorda that the same. They just speak their local dialect. If you need to be very, very local foreigner, you have to learn Chinese. Even like old people, like in Taipei, some of the area. They won't speak Chinese.
