Katie followed the tide of good-natured people. As they walked, she passed a cart where a woman was selling roasted chestnuts. The high school booster club was manning a table selling hot cider and baked goods. Meanwhile, a tree of women dressed in Victorian costumes were caroling near the tree. Their voices rang sweetly through the darkness, blending perfectly in arrangements of old-fashioned carols. Katie hummed appreciatively under her breath, somehow remembering every note.
