The stories are complex enough to mean that people can relate in different ways. And I think it's effective as well because people have emotional identification of the story. It gives them a chance to... Who roots? To express themselves, really. We'll invite someone, or usually two people together, to come up to the front and tell the story to the class. That provides that distinction and means of connecting to the other people in the class.
