Williams's version is not Gnostic in the sense that he embraces the body and materiality. He called himself a poet of affirmation. So he does not reject materialism the way Gnosticism would. But as Aaron Rookma has shown, members of the secret societies had this delicate balance on how to communicate their spiritual truths.
