How Did Franklin Institute Come About?
Hiram Smith, Dick Windwood started a time management company in 1984. Frank and three others owned a little company called the Franklin Company. A year later, we merged the two companies. It was still Franklin Institute. And then it continued to grow extremely fast. But Merrill Lynch told us, look, you can't call it Franklin Institute anymore. That's not a growth name. So we changed to Franklin Quest. Years later, I was called to be a mission president in Uruguay. They merged, actually, it was Franklin to purchase Covey somewhere around 95 or 96 and became Franklin Covey at that point.
