Kissinger is often seen as a bit of a China hugger. He acknowledged that we wouldn't know what China really wants, and so deterrence through a strong military is absolutely essential. Is it possible for China and the United States to coexist without this threat of all-out war with each other? I thought and still think the negative proof of that has not yet been given because Taiwan is a special case.

Henry Kissinger was one of the most influential and controversial diplomats of the 20th century. He was National Security Advisor and Secretary of State to two American presidents.
