As society becomes a little more comfortable talking about sexuality, the idea of hyper-masculine masculinity is becoming less common. Imea hopes that this is decreasing in the psyche of young men but remembers how it was so ingrained in him as a child. He recalls running to his mam and pointing at his wrist when he did something which made him look like an 'attacker' The writer grew up in rule illinois where gay people are often seen as "threats or wrong" because they hold themselves in certain ways. For some reason, there was permission when i went to theatre for being affectionate with other men. There was no taboo with homosexuality; you could just be yourself
