Lafe Erickson's Story

Lafe Erickson was born about 970. When he was eight years old, he moved in with a teacher, a German named Thierker. According to the sagas, Lafe grew into a resourceful, intelligent, wise, and magnanimous young man. In 994, Lafe was assigned a task by his father: He was to sail to Norway for King Olaf Trigvassen. It should be understood that this is no simple journey.
