How to Refine Estimates of Russian War Deaths
BBC journalists have been working on a project with a Russian news website called MediaZona. The current death toll according to this method is around 28,000. It involves using information from Russia's probate registry which documents inheritance claims once someone has died. And what they found was a sharp increase in entries during 2022 and 2023.
