Aquinas 101 - Course 2: Introduction to Thomistic Philosophy

CHAPTER

Is the Name of God a Proper Name?

To talk about deus deity is to call god. I'm not calling god by a distinctive name, like peter or paul or andrew. I'm calling god by the divine nature. It's basically i'msay, o deity. O divine nature, come to my assistance. And this above all, property bys the god, whose being knows past and future. He who uses the name of god mords proper more properly than the name god. But as regards the object intended, the name god is more proper as it is supposed to santify the divinenature.
