What Is an IPP?

An IPP is an independent power producer. It means a generator of new capacity that can be fossil fuel based on non-fossil fuel. Most utilities in sub-Saharan Africa are fully owned by their respective governments. These long term supply agreements from the independent power producers need to be off taken or bought by the state utilities.
