CHAPTER

The Goal of Stoicism

The goal of stoicism is to be able to develop genuine self-love. Marcus talks about how he would deal with a hostile person in his meditations. He wouldn't speak to them as if he was trying to embarrass them in front of others or in a kind of lecturing way like a strict schoolmaster, says the author. The Stoics want to exercise when they're critiquing their own character as well not an kind of aggressive critical sort of Lecturing way but in a more gentle, nurturing kind of stance I say.
