Richard Swinburne: Why would God choose a method to create the universe that needed 14 billion years before human beings could ever come around his special interest? He said it was probably that he would make us but it was quite probably you would make other things. And, of course, exactly the same problem arises with physics. That is to say physics is postulating some quite extraordinary entities, which are partly waves and partly particles. Not visibly, we have to be told they are there and we have to believe it because it makes good predictions.
