Crippen's Testimony in the Trial of Bell Elmore
The prosecution spent a lot of time trying to prove that the remains in the cellar were actually the remains of Bell Elmore. Three experts, including a pathologist named Bernard Spillsbury, testified that they had identified a scar consistent with an operation that Bell had had years ago. A local chemist testified that Crippen had ordered hyacene a few weeks before his wife disappeared.
