The last midterm election was also the last time the Fed was raising rates and QT was in effect at the same time. That did not- I think people were hoping for that end of the year bounce. It ended only when the Fed came out at the December meeting and said, we are done. Now, the Fed can't really do that now quite to the same extent because they didn't have to worry about inflation so much.
