The Story of Christmas

The modern santa has never been a roll model. He just exists as this far away judge to corral kids into the categories of good and bad, bestow rewards or punishments they deserve. We no longer seek to follow the example he set, you know, caring for the most in need without being weird about it. But instead, he acts as a surrogate judge, so we can praise and chastise whoever we want in the false name of goodness itself. To challenge the narrative of christmas is to challenge america itself and the stories it tells itself. It's always been this way.
