The American Academy of Pediatrics is dedicated to reducing health disparities and increasing health equity for all children and adolescents. Attainment of these goals requires addressing inequities in available resources and systemic barriers to quality health care services for children with obesity. The interesting thing that they don't mention here is the role of experiencing anti-fat stigma. Pediatricians and other primary care providers have been and remain a source of weight bias.
