Is There a Performance Hit for Single Threaded Stuff?

The new feature is designed to improve the performance of Python programs. The code they're running, that's more simple. It's probably not performance sensitive a lot of the times. And if I don't care about performance plus or minus 5%, probably doesn't matter. But maybe this is close enough possible improvements even down the road.
