The World Economic Forum opens today. The annual gathering in the Swiss Alps brings together financial elites, politicians, and civic groups. FT's Gideon Rachman is a regular at Davos; he confessed to us that getting to the yearly meeting can be a schlep. He hopes to meet President Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines this year - who could have some interesting things to say about his country.
