The notion of taboos on the disgusting has been one of the major ways that things like homophobia and racism have operated in everyday society. The blood of Christ is a really good example here because blood is often something that's seen as disgusting, especially when it comes out of people with uteruses. There are a number of ritual acts that boys go through in puberty that have to do with semen where those bodily fluids are elevated to a ritual level. But I think sexual acts among people of the same gender have often been seen as disgusting by homophobic societies. Perhaps the ritual that sort of like raises homophobia to a sacred level and the fraternity is the circle jerk,.
