The Importance of Discipline in Religious Life
When she was in eighth grade, a teacher told her to leave the Oblate Sisters of Providence because they didn't have any colored girls. At 16 and working at my parish on Friday night, Angela's pastor asked why she was entering an all-black community. "They weren't ready for an American girl," he said. After getting over that and telling Jesus goodbye, I'm going to Spain, meet my matador, Mary and have my tribe."
