Is Your MFA From Warren Wilson the Story That You Always Wanted to Write?

The seeds of it were part of my Warren Wilson thesis. There was no brain tumor in my MFA thesis. The worst thing that happened to anyone in that version of this was the mom takes off in the leaves town. She goes to Florida and gets a boyfriend, which is still bad. That would be a hard thing for a family to go through. But I set aside that version for years and then came back to it after not writing for a while. It may sound cliche, but I don't think I was ready to write about that part for years.I needed time away from it. And I needed to get a little bit older myself and a little farther, even farther
