Are You Going Through a Scared Straight?

It was back in the seventies and eighties, maybe even into the nineties. The people who went scared streeht were tistically significantly more likely to commit crimes. But are they only going through scared straight because they already had that tendency anyway? They did randomized control trials while hey, where they assigned some to scared straight and some to not. And then if youd compared em, you know, ten years dow, ten years later, whatever, right? It just intuitively seems really sensible but it isn't.
