The Fall of Baghdad
The fall of Baghdad marked a turning point in world history. The Islamic world was never as unified as it would be before the Mongol invasion. In-fighting and factionalism divided the former United Caliphate into numerous sultanates, caliphs and kingdoms. February 13, 1258 still remains one of the bloodiest days in all of human history.
