Isep was started in the seventies, but didn't really catch on much until the nineties. Its purpose initially was to provide a haven for professionals who challenge the the orthodox viewpoint. And so that's why we got together. We just try to trumpet the message that mental illness is not illness. The forms of medical model treatment can be very harmful,. and there are alternatives for people to get help with these problems. If they stop thinking about them as non medical problems, but as natural human reactions to living well. It's all volunteer, non profit. But a, we don't take any funding, with some minor exceptions here and there for specific projects.
Dr. Ruby earned his Ph.D. in 1995 at Florida State University. He is a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel with 20 years of military service as a criminal, counterintelligence, and counterespionage special agent and investigative psychologist in many capacities across the globe.
