I realized I was not being sufficiently critical or, or rigorous in evaluating the studies that seemed to support my thesis. The book is actually relatively light on academic research and that's one thing I've seen some people complain about: it doesn't engage with enough of the academic research. How to write a rigorous book in an era where so much science, psychological science and just social science in general is just not very good? And I can give an example of what I mean by not very good science if you want. No, the audience is screaming for it obviously.
