The Race for the Moon

The Russians were first to put a satellite in space. But the Americans thought that they were the best. The race for the moon was on. Who would get there first? NASA, the North American Space Agency. They started work on a program to fly to the moon. It called it the Apollo program. Unfortunately for them, their rockets kept crashing. Eventually the Americans were ready. Firstly they flew to the moon and then around the moon. Finally they sent a huge rocket called Apollo 11 to the moon with three astronauts on board.
