The Importance of Family Shame
As a child, my parents were very private, I would say, within our family unit. So basically what happened is me and my siblings as well. We knew something was going on. But it wasn't actually told to us explicitly until after I had kind of figured it out. And yeah, the reason I mention that is because there was sort of like a compartmentalization where we were going to church. My family was interacting with Mormonism in all these really typical ways. But then kind of behind closed doors, there was this sort of shameful secret going on.
