Watslav havell was a dissident in communist chek slovacia and became president. He echoed solgenitn's sentiment that the most effective key to liberation from totalitarian rule is to commit to a non participation in lies. To live within the truth is to act in ways which promote a cultural reawakening, thus serving as a counter force to totalitarian system’s course of march towards cultural stagnation, suffering and death.
