13-Year-Olds Don't Feel That Safe With Their Parents
In this culture, 13-year-olds don't feel like they can talk to their parents. The human brain requires demands, craves, connection with somebody - called attachment. When the parents are not around, kids will connect to whoever is around. In our society, that communal grouping has been eroded even in healthy families.
