Paintings of Marie Sos
Marie Sos painted many portraits of her friend Marie Uber in the early 1870s. The only man we know that she painted was her husband, one of the monos, Jean. It wouldn't have been proper for a woman to paint a man in the 19th century or so little of a pimp. And there are these kinds of unique constructions of intersubjectivity and of painting that become really, really fascinating to think with in her work.
