What I Learned From the Gobi Desert
Between 19 69 and 19 75, i was sent to the gobi desert without any choice at all. And there was no hope when we were there to ever get out. Every day we had work ten, 12, sometimes even 16 hours. At one time, i worked 31 hours straight. I suppose i was just more prepared than most of my peers who didn't read in ten years because the school was shut down when the cultural revolution started. A whole generation people like myself were literally lost. So when this ordeal was over, i was able to capture some opportunities. That's all.
