Skillful Intentions, Unskilled Intention
The skillful wholesome actions result, again from the Devaita Vataka-Suta, lead to happiness, foster discernment, promote karm, lead to unbinding. Unskillful, unwholesome actions lead to affliction, obstruct discernment,. promote fixation and do not lead to unbiting. So where do skillful intentions come from? They arise in dependence upon skillful mental states. The last temptation is the greatest treason to do the right deed for the wrong reason.
