The Impact of President Sisi on Egypt's Economy
When Muhammad Morsi was president of Egypt, the Gulf states were concerned when Abu Fadakh Sisi became Egypt leader later its president. You talked about in your paper, have the Gulf states dispersed about $100 billion to Egypt after Sisi took power. And you talked about how the Gulf states felt that Egypt wasted the breathing space that aid produced. Of course, in terms of not utilizing the breathing space, President Sisi not only reinforced very bad economic practices that were a hold over of the Mubarak regime. He has used that money to invest heavily in state infrastructure projects siphoning off a lot of that money through state contracts and construction companies.
