The first example of a wooden roof ever excavated from the roman world was found. To conserve we must excavate, and the excavation is going to produce new stuff. We have been doing new excavation in order to save the sight. The site has very ragged edges. It's just stop digging where they stop digging. And you see buildings just disappearing into the edge of the excavations. A big campaign was done justfor years ago - that revealed all sorts of things that had been missed with bulldoses back in the nineties.
