The author is part of a team at Artis International looking into work on sacred values. The idea for this research actually came from the co-PI on that project, Scott Atrin. He was traveling around the world and interviewing members of different terrorist organizations. And he noticed they were implicitly looking at the world through this lens. But it's not surprising because if you go to a degree in economics or political science, that's one of the main theories through which you you're taught to look at the world.
