The study found that rosuba statin lowered LDL cholesterol by 37.9%. Placibo, a lowered cholesterol by 2.6%, fish oil, lowered cholesterol by 3.4% and cinnamon increased cholesterol by 0.4%. Turmeric and curcumin with biopurine decreased cholesterol by 1.3%. The red yeast rice extract decreased cholesterol by 6.6%. But four of the preparations had elevated levels of citrinin, which is a potentially nephrotoxic mycotoxin.
