Is Football Bringing Communities Together?

I've seen so many organizations and projects in Africa, at least, that are using football to bring communities together or do stuff like stop gang activities. So it seems like there's so much more that football can do. I've actually been looking at a project in Uganda which helps former child soldiers to reintegrate back into society. They get together around two or three times a week to train and crucially, there's also a train councilor on hand to help them work through the trauma. And I think the hope is that some new friendships will be formed and that the refugees will feel a bit safer and a bit more welcome in their new communities as a result.
