If we were to start again today from scratch, what would we actually want? What would we bring with us, or what would we have to go out and find? I think it's interesting, you can almost tell whether an organization is going to be successful in doing this in terms of the mentality they take. The only way to do it is to put a separate business unit well out of reach of the parent and let it go do its thing. It sounds the same thing, but it ends up making all the difference.
This episode surprised us; through a discussion of who is at fault in the latest series of new vs old-world spats, we realized that not only has the Internet fundamentally changed winners-and-losers, but also the very nature of economic competition and the type of regulation that is required.
