Tolstoy's Spiritual Crisis

Tolstoy is marvellous at writing women. He's very early pro woman, which is funny because if you read his wife's letters, if you read any biographical stuff, he seems very misogynistic. My belief is that he was most likely misanthropic, rather than misogynistic. He hated everybody, not just women, except in his novel. And one of my personal favorite characters, and I believe, people will think this is a bit crazy if they've only read Anna once, but if you've read Anna a few times, you'll probably understand why.
