The Effects of Alkaloid Content on Shelf Life of Tea

There is a perception at least in Southeast Asia that the product is no good after a couple of days. We see that over time the alkaloid content does stay fairly stable, even though it's changed a little bit relative to what you would see in a fresh leaf material preparation in Southeast Asia. There is a mention that there's a tingling feeling in the mouth when this tea is consumed or even when the leaves are chewed. It could be coming from some other type of chemical present in the leaf material that we just don't know yet.
