In recovery, the specific adaptations you're trying to engage are opposite to stress. Thermal training, exposure to heat, exposure to cold in a dedicated way can be viewed as ways to trigger adaptations. And deliberate respiration, AKA breathing or breath work as a practice could also create adaptations. All of these are really ways of both triggering adaptations and if applied properly to actually help you recover from the stress.
