Product Orientation in the Data Science Space?

The idea of when the product literally has to make money in order to survive, like that's the whole thing. Oftentimes it's really easy to have an in-depth conversation around market forces but then they haven't spent enough rigorous time thinking about how do we actually bring this to market? Who are the buyers? What is the sales cycle like? Obviously at the early stage you don't know the answers to those questions, but oftentimes there's a lot of research or at least hypothesis testing that you can do to kind of validate that.
