The Dangers of Cookie Cutter Approaches to Memorization

There's a tendency to think the memory palace is the only way to memorize we often see memory teaching videos against rote memorizations as if rote memorization was this evil thing that you need to get rid of. So I'm curious to know why do you believe it's important to have this this open mindedness when it comes to the various approaches to memorization. And in your opinion, what are some of the dangers of having this cookie cutter approach to mnemonics?
