Can religion have positive effects on mental health? I think absolutely. There's even data to support that. And at the same it's not like religion is the only source of those kinds of things. Sublimation of the ego is a big common te amongst religions, which leads to positive mental health outcomes. Community and social capital can lead to things like shunning or ostraciation if you start to like and so suddenly that the community starts to become a negative pact and emotionally damaging to you. The last thing is that sometimes the therapeutic alliance gets like, taking advantage of, and that's really bad for you. So you don't need religion, but it's kind of the combo meal
