How to Prepare for a Mystery Novel
I had never written fiction before other than then, you know, the song lyrics. I think for me, probably the best preparation for it was being a reader and paying attention to how books are put together. So that helped. And also I've been always been a read, read, read. When I was in law school, I stopped. All I've been was in law. And I read primarily fiction. Without my really knowing it, I think instinctively kind of knew how to craft a story.
