Animals and the After Life From the Faith Perspective

Some christian thinkers have proposed that, apart from humans, there won't be any life at all on the new earth. Against this argument, it could be pointed out that there are scripture passages that could suggest the presence of both plants and animals. And if they are present, what's relationship with the animals in this life? Are they copies or clones of specific animals, or are they the same individual animals who have survived death?
