Saheel: In the happiness hypothesis, social psychologist Jonathan Hate makes a compelling argument for the power of metaphor. Saheel first came across the concept of the surfer mentality in a short video from his friend Guillerme Mubeche last year. He started to wrestle with it more after rereading one of his favorite books, Barbarian Days, A Surfing Life. The surfer mentality is a simple, powerful application of this metaphor.
